Immunization is one of the most cost effective public health interventions available. Immunization services in Jamnagar Municipal Corporation area are provided by network of UHCs, Anganwadis, Private Practitioners, NGOs, Government and Trust hospitals. There are total 12 UHCs and around 300 Anganwadis which mainly provides immunization services in especially slum areas of JMC.

For Immunization activities each of UHCs is containing more or less same staff pattern like 1 Medical Officer, 1 Pharmacist (for cold chain management), 2 or more ANMs, with the supporting staff like , Urban Asha, Anganwadi worker and Anganwadi helper which is usually situated in field where Outreach sessions are carried out.

Immunization activities in Jamnagar Mahanagar Seva Sadan are carried out under Universal Immunization Programme (UIP). Under this programme Corporation provides free of cost vaccination the beneficiaries. (i.e. the pregnant women and the children.) To reduce the Infant mortality and morbidity they are protected by BCG, Hepatitis B (birth dose), OPV, Pentavalent, Measles, DPT (booster dose), and Vitamin A, while the pregnant mothers are protected from Tetanus by Inj. Tetanus toxoid. This department also organizes the Pulse Polio Immunization Programme which is also known as a ‘National Immunization Day’ and “Sub-National Immunization Day”. During this activity all the children below 5 years of age including newborns receives the two drops of life that is the Oral Polio Vaccine.

  • Free treatment to the child (below/equal to 1 month) by the Paediatricians who has done MOU

As Per Govt. project, Rs. 6000/- and Rs. 5000/- N.S.C. is given to the couple who had undergone Sterilization after 1 or 2 daughter.( mother’s age should be upto 35 years, 1st Daughter age should be above 3 years)

• Micro planning for Mamta Divas abhiyaan at 300 Aaganwadi Centres (located in urban slums) is completed in order to improve immunization coverage. Adult and infant weighing machines and baby sorters scales provided at all Aaganwadi Centres so that growth monitoring of all infant and pre-school children can be done effectively
• Micro planning for supervision of Mamta Divas activity has been finalized by ICDS and Health Supervisors for proper monitoring of it
• It includes the following services:
  • Registration of ANC, PNC and 0 to 5 years children
  • Health check up
  • Vaccination
  • Prophylactic/ Therapeutic drug supplement
  • Counseling

Government of Gujarat has launched school health programme every year over Gujarat. Under this programme Jamnagar Mahanagar Seva Sadan arrange Health check-up for all children going to primary,secondary and aanganwadi center. & also child not going to either school or aanganwadi of age up to 18 years.
